The A & N House
Designed as a single residence, A&N House quietly holds two homes within one composed form. Created for two brothers—one frequently away, the other rooted in Manila with a young family—the house balances shared identity with personal rhythm.
From the street, the architecture remains calm and understated. Inside, light, proportion, and material slowly unfold, revealing spaces shaped as much by daily rituals as by form.
Arrival is marked by a gentle pause. A solid wood door, carved from a single piece, welcomes you with texture and weight. Horizontal grooves follow the grain continuously from top to bottom, allowing the wood to express its natural movement.
The hand meets the material first—warm, familiar, grounding—setting the tone for the spaces beyond.
Deep eaves and shaded balconies protect the home from direct sun while inviting daylight indoors. Windows remain generous yet comfortable, keeping spaces cool and bright throughout the day.
This balance—between shelter and openness—allows the house to breathe naturally, in tune with its tropical setting.
The ground floor opens into a continuous living, dining, and kitchen space, designed for both gathering and quiet evenings at home. Sliding glass panels dissolve the boundary to the garden, extending daily life outward.
Wood floors run uninterrupted underfoot, adding warmth and a sense of ease as spaces flow into one another.
At the center of the home, the dining area anchors everyday rituals. The kitchen, concealed behind custom folding and sliding panels, reveals itself only when needed.
When closed, it recedes quietly into the background—allowing the home to shift effortlessly between activity and rest.
At the heart of the home, the staircase becomes a quiet moment of wonder. Thin steel profiles give structure, while narra wood softens every step. Glass balustrades allow light to pass freely, so movement through the house is always accompanied by shifting shadows and reflections.
The stair does more than connect floors—it gently connects moments.
Smaller spaces are treated with the same care as larger volumes. Beneath the stair, the powder room becomes an intimate pause: a kamagong inlay guiding the eye, a freestanding vessel softly lit, a full-height mirror reflecting warmth and movement.
These moments invite stillness, even briefly.
The master bedroom is a place of calm and quiet connection. From the bed, filtered views extend across the stair void, offering a sense of openness without exposure.
Soft light, layered materials, and controlled views create a retreat that feels both grounded and expansive.
In the master bath, light takes center stage. Pale stone surfaces reflect daylight softly, while integrated lighting eliminates visual noise. Fixtures remain understated, allowing proportion and material to shape the experience.
It is a space designed to feel calm, clean, and restorative.
The walk-in closet is conceived not as storage, but as transition. Darker tones and reflective surfaces slow the pace, turning routine into ritual. A built-in vanity provides a moment to pause before the day begins or gently winds down.
Everything here is intentional, nothing excessive.
Ascending through the house, the stair becomes a companion once more. Cantilevered treads appear to float alongside a glass wall, while a skylight above draws daylight deep into the home.
As the sun moves, the house quietly responds—never static, always alive.
At the roof deck, the home opens fully to the sky. Each unit enjoys its own access to this shared outdoor space, designed for slow mornings, long conversations, and evenings under soft light.
Built-in seating, dining areas, and layered planting create a gentle landscape above the city. As night falls, subtle lighting extends the atmosphere, allowing life to linger just a little longer.
A&N House is shaped by restraint, but lived through warmth. It is a home designed not to impress loudly, but to support daily life with grace—where light softens structure, materials age beautifully, and moments of connection unfold naturally.
It is architecture meant to be felt, quietly and over time.
